Atsusacon 2011 - The first time!
Looking back at a successful Atsusacon!

So, it might be a bit late to post a blog post about Atsusacon but better late than never, right? I went there with 6 friends on Sunday the 24th of July. It was a bit of a drive from Utrecht, especially since we missed a few exits at the highway. But, after a drive of about 2 hours, we finally arrived in Antwerp. Long story short, we drove a bit longer than planned but we arrived around 10:30 AM.
As you can see on the Atsusacon site, it was kinda small. But, instead of starting with negative things, let's look at the bright side of it. Because it was so small you could check everything out in about 30 minutes, and then decide where you want to go. I primarily strolled through the dealerroom where I was the first one to buy a YaYCon ticket. Besides that I actually didn't buy that much, only Lucky Star vol 8. And of course I had a nice chat with the YaYCon people, something that is always useful to fill the time at cons.
Of course there was a very nice cosplay competition, of which I took a lot of pictures. If you haven't seen them, take a look at my Flickr album to see them. The only downside to this where the kinda negative comments directed at F.A.C.T.S. I know there was a quiz as well, just like a few anime screenings, but I didn't visit those.
What I did do, and that's a first for me, is ask a few awesome cosplayers if they would allow me to take a picture. The most awesome one was, in my opinion, the Miyafuji Yoshika cosplay. I mean, it takes a lot of courage to walk around in that. If you have no idea who Yoshika is, first go watch the anime Strike Witches. Then, take a look at this link: Yoshika-chan on Flickr.
All in all, it was a nice con. The only weird thing was that, after about 11:30AM you could just enter the building without having payed for the convention. I never saw a check for that after I entered. That is actually the only thing that I would improve.
Keep up the good work Ganbarro VZW!
