Yakitate Abunai! recipe - Ingredients

How to make your own delicious melonpan! (part 1)

Written on 01/02/2012 by Patrick Bregman

About a year ago I made a Dutch post about this, which you can read here. But, during last year's Abunai! (Abunai! 2011) I had the wonderful opportunity to make some nice pictures. The recipe is still the same as last year, the only thing added in this installment is a load of pictures. Ah, and it's in English of course.

Please note, this whole recipe is for making two (2) melonpan. If you want 4, double the amount. If you want 1, halve the amount

Ingredients

The melonpan is basically made from two different parts, namely bread dough and cookie dough. The part you see on the outside is the cookie dough, and the bread dough goes on the inside of that. If you look at the amount of ingredients it might actually be easier to make a lot of them and spread the joy among all your friends.

Please note that all names of ingredients were translated using Google Translate. If you can read Dutch, please visit the link at the start to view the Dutch ingredients.

So, what do you need to make it?

Bread dough

For the bread dough you're going to need:

  • 100 grams of flour
  • 2 grams of yeast
  • 12 grams of white castor sugar
  • 1 gram of salt
  • 2 grams of milk powder
  • 10 grams of butter
  • 66 grams of water (of 66 milliliters, just about the same)
  • something to fill it with (suggestion: chocolate, fruit, a little bit of jam/marmalade)

Ingredients for the bread dough

For the cookie dough you're going to need:

  • 27 grams of butter
  • 30 grams of white castor sugar
  • 27 grams of egg
  • 66 grams of flower (original recipe states "zeeland flower")
  • 1 gram of vanilla
  • 1 gram of baking powder

Ingredients for the cookie dough
